Geodóm
A timber-based, hemispherical structure, made from natural materials. It can be designed as a home, a weekend house, accommodation, a communal space or a greenhouse, and it can take a mezzanine.
Rendering. The gallery below also includes the construction phases and completed domes.
A geodesic dome is built from triangles, and that is what gives it its character: the load is spread across the whole surface, so there is no need for a supporting column inside. As a result, the usable space under a hemisphere is much larger than the floor area suggests.
The frame is made of timber. This is not only an aesthetic decision: the timber elements can be assembled on site, and the finished dome reads as a timber structure from the inside as well, so it does not need separate cladding to feel like a habitable space.
The function is not decided by the structure. The same dome can be accommodation, a weekend house, a communal space or a greenhouse. What changes is the covering and the building services, not the frame.
Thanks to the headroom, a mezzanine can also be built in, which for the accommodation function means a separate sleeping area on the same floor area.
The covering can take several forms. The gallery includes canvas, timber and panel-clad versions: canvas is quicker and cheaper to build, while timber and panels are more durable and give a building that can be used all year round.

The solutions shown here illustrate possible layouts. Siting, investment cost and expected operation depend on the specific location and technical scope. We calculate the figures for your own site, and we tell you which of them are estimates.
